There is little learning curve from beginner to expert snowshoes, just a scale of where you want to go. Here are a few useful tips for getting ascending a hill in snowshoes:
1. Some snowshoes offer heel lifts for climbing steeper terrain. Raising the heel lift bar reduces calf fatigue by keeping your foot more level, and often improves traction while climbing by weight pressuring the rear traction.
2. Keep your weight on your forefoot, and use snowshoe poles for added balance and support.
3. Kick in & press down to make a step.
4. Go slower and more deliberately on harder snow and steep slopes.
